Recommended Practices for AP 209, V2.0, March 2016

Scope: CAD, PDM, linear static structural analysis

This document describes the recommended structure and the attribute qualifications in building data models based on the EXPRESS entities, types, and rules in the STEP AP 209 edition 2 (structural_analysis_design) schema. It covers only the classical Finite Element capabilities initially covered in edition 1 and is centered on the design and analysis phase of composite and metallic structural parts, managed in configuration.

Geometric Founding and Associativity in ISO 10303-209, K. A. Hunten, P.E., Revision: B, 2/15/2001

This document illustrates the many different geometric coordinate frame transformations (foundings) that are possible within ISO 10303-209 (AP209).  The examples start with the simplest one part case, and then progress to more complicated transformations.

Recommended Practices for AP 203ed2 and AP 209ed2 Composite Material Shape and Structure, Version 1.1, June 18, 2010, Keith Hunten, P.E.

This Recommended Practices document has been prepared as a usage guide for industry. This document is to be a supplement to the existing AP 203ed2 Recommended Practices document, and is an excerpt from the existing AP 209ed2 Recommended Practices document. This document provides pre- and post-processor recommendations where attributes from the conceptual STEP data models may not actually have values in the AP 203ed2 and AP 209ed2 application domains. The terms pre-processor and post-processor refer to the applications that write and read the application data respectively. In these recommendations, the term ‘no standard mapping’ means there is no mapping defined in the AP's ARM-to-AIM mapping table for the data.
